Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@illinoisbehavioralinterventions.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At its core, ABA is a scientific approach to understanding behavior and how environmental factors influence it. It utilizes tactics derived from the principles of behavior, which are then systematically applied to improve behaviors that are socially significant.

ABA therapy is a structured, individualized form of treatment that applies the principles of behavior analysis to help individuals develop meaningful skills. It involves setting measurable goals, collecting data, and systematically teaching skills using reinforcement and other strategies. Treatment is tailored to each person’s strengths, needs, and preferences, and is particularly effective for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental challenges.

In Illinois, insurance often provide coverage for ABA, though the specifics, such as number of hours, settings covered, and authorization requirements may vary by plan.

Public Law 095-1005 in Illinois mandates that certain health insurers cover the diagnosis and treatment of ASD for individuals under 21 years old.

At IBI, therapy is provided primarily in the client’s home or other care facilities (e.g., residential homes, day programs, etc.). Delivering services in natural settings helps individuals generalize skills to the environments where they live, play, and interact. It also allows for real-time coaching of caregivers and integration of strategies into daily routines, making intervention more meaningful and sustainable.
